Most databases also have ways of limiting your search to scholarly journals, a particular magazine or date, or fulltext. These limiters are pretty standard, but are often labeled differently.
To limit your search to only scholarly journals look for phrases like "scholarly", "peer reviewed" or "refereed". In EBSCO check the "Scholarly (Peer Reviewed) Journals" box, and in the Gale databases check the "Refereed Publications" box.
