Statements for Your Syllabus
Planning ahead is important. While it is not always possible to plan for every obstacle, there are a few things that you can do to prepare your students for the unexpected. These statements will help get your students ready for the semester.
Please copy the following into your syllabus/assignment to direct students to our research support services:
North Shore Community College Library’s Reference and Instruction Librarians offer free assistance to students who need help locating information for assignments, or guidance in using citation styles (APA, MLA, Chicago, and more).:
Assistance is available any time that the virtual reference desk is open: (Monday - Thursday 8 am - 8:30 pm; Friday 8 am - 4 pm; Closed Saturdays and Sundays) and no appointment is necessary!

Assignments in this class require/may require that you use NSCC Library resources. These resources are free, but you will need to log-in to access them using your MyNorthShore username and password.
There are many ways you can share content from our databases with students.
Libguides - We can create a subject, course or assignment Libguide to provide your students with access to specific resources and instruction on how to use them.
Email - You can capture persistent links to specific resources which, when added to our proxy prefix (http://ezproxynsc.helmlib.org/login?url=), you can email to your students.
Blackboard - You can capture persistent links to specific resources which, when added to our proxy prefix (http://ezproxynsc.helmlib.org/login?url=), you can share with your students in Blackboard. You can also embed videos from our Films on Demand database in Blackboard.
