Introduction

The first two decades of the 21st century saw a rise in awareness of the on-going struggle for Black freedom in the nation's consciousness. Police violence towards Black Americans resulted in numerous protests across the country and gave Rise to the Black Lives Matter Movement. Activism at the local level has been a defining feature these years. The rising awareness of systemic and institutional racism has results in calls for the white community to engage in the work of Anti-Racism and to move from talk of equity and allyship towards actionable work
