After using this guide, students will be able to locate and cite sources needed to support and complete coursework, and find information and tutorials on processes that will provide strategies for research and study.

Use textbooks and reference books to build basic foundational knowledge on your topic. Good for medical background information on a disease, disorder or condition.
Professional journals use research to determine the effectiveness of respiratory therapy interventions, and to improve upon diagnosis and prognosis of diseases, disorders and conditions. Use the Publication field limiter in CINAHL Advanced Search to limit your search to core respiratory publications.
Use current scholarly, peer reviewed journals to find evidence based research studies. Consider patient diagnosis/population, interventions, and outcomes of interest as concepts/terms when searching.
