Welcome

This research guide is designed to help you find current information about the issues that are appearing in the news and on the Internet. For information of this type, it is important to be aware of the date of publication of the source. Magazines, journals, and newspapers, because they are published more often, are a more important category for this type of research than are books. The best way to find this type of information is to use our library databases.

Databases are collections of articles from magazines, journals, newspapers, and sometimes books, that have been converted to electronic format for access via the Internet. Databases may be general in subject, or may be composed of information about a specific subject. To use our databases, use the tab above for "Writing and Research".

Access

Access to many of the database links on this guide requires NSCC authentication - users must sign in with their My Northshore (formerly NSCC Pipeline) username & password

If you want to place any library materials on hold, request a book from another library, or check out any physical library materials out you will need to have your NSCC ID.

Your ID is activated once your classes start.
