Here you'll find information about access, lending, computers, printing and policies for users that are not current NSCC faculty, staff member, or students (this includes alumni).
The North Shore Community College Library is open to the public and strives to be a safe and accommodating environment for all users that is conducive to study and research. Please keep in mind that while community patrons are welcome to use the library premises, assistance, services and equipment, NSCC students, staff and faculty have first priority.
The NSCC Library can only lend materials directly to NSCC users and users of other HELM institutions. If a community patron is interested in an item that the NSCC library owns, we ask that they initiate the request through their local public library. With the exception of some collections (course reserve materials, Test Preparation items, and equipment), we will send requested items via inter-library loan. The NSCC Library is a member of the Commonwealth Catalog and the Massachusetts Library System.
Both the Danvers and Lynn campus libraries have designated computers that community patrons can use. Users interested in logging into a computer should ask a library staff member for assistance. Community patron computer use is limited to 30 minutes per day and the computers will automatically sign off after the 30 minute session. Please keep in mind that NSCC students, faculty, and staff have priority and community users may be asked to yield the computer if NSCC users are waiting. Community patrons using our computer and wireless internet will have access to library databases.
Printing is available from designated computers using an individual, online account which can be accessed here: http://webdeposit.northshore.edu/webdeposit/. Any community user interested in printing should follow the link to create an online account where they can will upload funds using a debit or credit card. Users should also make note of their username and password so they can log in, print, and add funds during future visits. Charges are $.10 per page for black and white printing, and $.25 per page for color printing. A minimum of $3.00 will need to be added to load funds for printing. We do not accept cash for printing from community users.
The NSCC Library strives to be a safe and accommodating environment for all users that is conducive to study and research. Therefore, all users must exhibit appropriate library behavior. All children must be accompanied by and supervised by an adult. Patrons who exhibit inappropriate behavior and/or disturb other users will be asked to leave the library and may be barred from future use of the library. Please take note of the following policies on our Library Use policies page: Guidelines for Conduct, Computer Use, and Unattended Children.
