Circulation Policies

Privacy Policy
NSCC Libraries adhere to the NOBLE consortium Privacy Policy.

Library Cards
Your NSCC ID is your library card and is valid as long as you are enrolled or employed by NSCC. IDs are for students, faculty, and staff of NSCC only, and are issued at the Student Life Offices in Danvers (DB132) and Lynn (LW171). Distance Learning students may apply by email. Instructions are available on our Distance Students page. Materials issued to those cards are the responsibility of the card owner. Please do not loan your card to others.

Off site library use and access to your NSCC library account require a login and cannot be accessed until your ID/Library Card is activated.

Public patrons and NSCC alumni are welcome to use a Massachusetts Public Library Card at NSCC Libraries. Students from other colleges within the NOBLE system may use their college IDS. Materials issued to those cards are the responsibility of the card owner. Please do not loan your card to others.

Circulation of Materials
Materials are checked out for the following loan periods:

Students and Community Borrowers:
Books - 3 weeks
Periodicals - 1 week
Media - 3 days
Vertical File Materials - 1 week
Museum Passes - please check with library staff
Calculators - NSCC student and staff use only / Overnight / no renewals
Reserve Materials - NSCC student and staff use only / Library Use Only unless a loan period is requested by a faculty member.
Reference Materials - Library Use Only
NSCC Only - 2 weeks/ no renewals

NSCC Faculty and Staff:
Books - 6 weeks
Periodicals - 1 week
Media - 3 days
Vertical File Materials - 1 week
Museum Passes - please check with library staff
Calculators - NSCC student and staff use only /Overnight / no renewals
Reserve Materials - NSCC student and staff use only / Library Use Only unless a loan period is requested by a faculty member.
Reference Materials - Library Use Only
NSCC Only - 2 weeks/ no renewals

Materials may be renewed one time unless a hold has been placed by another patron.

Holds and Interlibrary Loans
NSCC Libraries provide Interlibrary Loan Service through the NOBLE system for all patrons. Requests for materials from other NOBLE libraries or NSCC materials currently checked out may be placed online or with a circulation staff member. Requests outside of the NOBLE system are available for NSCC students, faculty, and staff only.

Materials received from other libraries follow the owning library's loan rules.
Materials borrowed from other locations are the responsibility of the card owner.

Course Reserves
Materials placed on reserve by faculty are available at the circulation desk and are for the use of NSCC students and staff only. NSCC students must present their NSCC ID to a library staff member to use course materials. Course Reserves are for library use only unless a loan period is requested by a faculty member.

Textbooks
NSCC Libraries do not carry copies of current textbooks unless a faculty member places them on Course Reserves.

Fines and Overdues
Books - $.10 per day
Periodicals - $.10 per day
Media - $1.00 per day
Lynn Museum Passes - $1.00 per day
Calculators - $5.00 per day
Communication Skills books - $1.00 per day
Circulating reserves - $1.00 per day
NSCC Only - $1.00 per day
Materials borrowed from other libraries follow the owning library's fine amounts.

A hold will be placed on your college account once materials are 28 days overdue. Outstanding library materials will result in college restrictions, including the inability to register for classes, to graduate, or to obtain transcripts.

Overdue materials on your account may affect your borrowing privileges at NOBLE libraries. Failure to receive overdue notices does not remove the responsibility for paying associated fines and fees.

Replacement of materials
The cost of unreturned, lost or damaged material is the responsibility of the card owner.

Destruction of Property
See MGL, Ch. 266, Sec. 100.

Photocopiers
Photocopiers are available at both libraries. The cost is $.10 per page.

Printing
NSCC students and staff can print from any computer in the library. Printing requires your Pipeline login. Students are allowed $25.00 in free printouts per semester. Once this is used, students can add money to their online account. Students can also pay cash: $.10 for b/w printouts and $.25 for color. A library staff member can help you with printing questions. Community patrons are responsible for paying for all printouts: $.10 for b/w printouts and $.25 for color. Community patrons may set up an an online printing account or pay in cash at the circulation desk.
