How Do I...

Get a library card?

Your NSCC ID is also your library card. If you are on campus, stop by the Student Life Office in Danvers (DB 132) or Lynn (LW 171) with a current class schedule to get an ID. Bring your NSCC ID to the library circulation desk; we will activate it and give you a Personal Identification Number (PIN) for your online library account. If you are unable to come to the library, send an email to nsb@noblenet.org and provide the following information: your name, address, phone number, and course information. If you know your NSCC student ID number (it starts with N), please include it. We will notify you by email when your ID is mailed.

Get library materials required for my Distance Learning course?

To get library materials you will need an NSCC ID, which is also your library card. To get an ID, follow the steps outlined in “how do I get a library card”. If you have your library card, you can stop by either library to pick up required materials. If you are unable to come to the library, email us at nsb@noblenet.org and include the following information: your name, address, phone number, and course information. We will mail you the required Distance Learning course materials. You are responsible for returning the materials, including postage. Return the Distance Learning course materials to:

Access library resources from off-campus?

In order to access some library resources off campus you must have a library activated NSCC ID. The fourteen digit number on the bottom of your ID is your library card number. Enter in this number when accessing databases off-campus.

Search the NOBLE catalog for library materials on the North Shore.
Search Ebrary for thousands of online books.
Search the Virtual Catalog for books across Massachusetts.
Search Worldcat for library materials across the world.
Search Films on Demand for streaming videos.
Search Overdrive for popular ebooks and audiobooks.

Find reference sources on my topic?

Search Credo Reference for reference sources.

Find articles?

Use the Library’s subject list of databases to find articles on your topic.

How do I find out if there is a LibGuide for my class?

Search for your course or instructor's name in the Find It box using the "LibGuides" selection.

Don't see your course there? Ask your instructor to contact us about creating one for your class. You can also search for topics, or types of assignments. We have guides on literary and career research, for most of the Allied Health programs, and on how to write a persuasive paper, or cite your sources. Browse all guides here.

Find out if the library has full text access to a journal?

Use the Library’s Journal and Article Locator tool.

Find streaming videos?

Search Films on Demand for streaming videos.

Find audiobooks?

Search the NOBLE Overdrive Database to find downloadable audiobooks.

Request library materials that are not at NSCC?

All Distance Learning students currently enrolled at NSCC may request items online to be picked up at the Lynn or Danvers Campus library or at any NOBLE library. This requires a valid NSCC ID and a PIN.

Use my card at other libraries?

Your NSCC ID can be used at any NOBLE college library. NOBLE public libraries require a public library card. If you have more questions about access to other institution’s libraries, contact a staff member at the Lynn or Danvers Campus Library.
